History of Indonesian School of Bangkok
Indonesian School of Bangkok was established on October 6th, 1962 by the Ambassodr Mr. BM Diah and recognized by the government since the issuance of Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia No. 93, 1963 dated 18th September 1963 about the opening of Indonesian School of Bangkok. Meanwhile, the presidential team happened to come to Bangkok after visiting Japan and Australia. SIB was ratified a second time by the President and attended by Minister of Education, Prof. Dr. Prijono. Not long after, the Department of Education sent a new principal.
The personnel structure when the Indonesian School of Bangkok established was as follows:

In the early establishment of Indonesian School of Bangkok, there were only elementary school and junior high school. Then on January 1st, 1964 the Kindergarten school was opened. From year to year, Indonesian School of Bangkok have ups and downs in the number of students and school levels, like any other Indonesian School abroad. Currently, Indonesian School of Bangkok has school levels from kindergarten up to high school.
Indonesian School of Bangkok was established to provide education for all Indonesian school year citizens who are abroad in general and Bangkok in particular, as stated in the Education Minister Decree no. 93/1963.
The school building is a building which used to be the so-called "Wisma Garuda" or The House of Garuda. Under the supervision of Mr. Ambassador. BM Diah who was followed by Mr. Ahmad Yusuf, Mr. A.R. Dharsono, Mr. Soetarto Sigit, Mr. Kharis Suhud, Mr.Hasnan Habib, Mr. Soebambang, Mr. Aried Riyadi, Mr. Gatot Suwardi and Mr. Ibrahim Yusuf, SIB has been improved with the addition of new buildings, laboratories, life skill room and quality teaching materials.
The principal appointed to lead the SIB include Rosa Siddik, Mr. Sugiarto, and several other principals whose the data cannot be found. Then the Ministry of Education and Culture, which subsequently changed its name to the Ministry of National Education and Ministry of Education held a selection of SIB School Principals. They are Drs. Yudha (1972-1975), Drs. Suwardi (1975-1979), then Mohammad Saleh, B.A. (1979-1984), Drs. Marsoediono (1984-1989), Hans Manusiwa, B.A. (1989-1993), Drs. I Made Putra Samskerta (1993-1996), Drs. Sutrino (1996-2000), Drs. Mutiek Admadji (2000-2003), Drs. Abri Eko Noerjanto (2003-2007), Sri Wuryanti, S.Pd. (2007-2010), and Dra. Does Ichnatun Dwi Soenoewati, M.Pd. (2010-present).
At first the teachers were those who were interested in and had a high dedication to educating children of the nation. Now, of the 12 permanent teachers. They are Solichin, S.Pd. (1980/30th)), Drs. Bekti Nusantara (1986/24th), Intan Nurhandayani, S.Pd. (1989/21th), Endang Sri Sumartani, S.Pd. (1995/15th), Janu Didid Dwiana, S.Pd. (1995/15th), Agustina Rahmawati, S.Pd., M.A. (1997/13th ), Wawan Anwar Sadat, S.Ag. (1997/4th), Muhammad Sholeh, S.Pd. (2002/8th), Sabarsih Sari Utami, M.M. (2005/5th), Drs. Amin Herwansyah (2007/4th), Drs. Ruy Pujo Prajogo (2007/4th), and Rini Handayani, S. Pd. (2010).
Under the guidance of the teachers monitored by the Principal, the SIB alumni continued their education at renowned universities both in Indonesia and abroad. Among the alumni, some have become the State officials as Hayono Isman (former Youth Minister), the trade attache, the official presidential household, and some people become doctors and successful entrepreneurs. Under the teachers guidance, the Indonesian School of Bangkok also won the overall championship in the SILN Appreciation and Creative competitions and runner-up despite a very limited number of students (50-60 students per year).
